ECCP is going to take part in the World Social Forum in Tunis. We’d like to invite you to our seminar that will be held on March 27th  and to the Convergence Assembly on Palestine on March 29th. ( dates and venues are going to be confirmed during the next couple days)

Title

The experience of European campaigns in support of the rights of the Palestinian people. What coordination between European and Arab solidarity movements is possible?

  1. INTRODUCTION of the ECCP: profile, tools and objectives + framework in which it evolves (Alessandra) 15 min
  2. Discussion on campaigns European organizations are conducting or are involved in  (methodologies, actors involved, results):

– RESCOP and ABP: Sanctions against Israel; lobby campaigns

–  Presentation of different campaigns:

– Orange:  a campaign against colonization

–  Prisoner’s sponsorship campaign and the European Prisoner’s campaign

– Settlement products

–  CCIPPP: Civilian missions

–  The Gaza freedom flotilla

–  The nonviolent resistance of the popular committees against the wall and the occupation, from Bil’in to Bab al Shams. The need for international networks (Luisa Morgantini + a Palestinian from the Palestinian committee) 10 min

–    The Russell Tribunal on Palestine

–   BDS in Europe: general overview

  1. Possibilities in terms of coordination between Arab and European movements in support of the rights of the Palestinian people

Summary

AIMS OF THE SEMINAR:

–   To inform and explain how ECCP and its member organizations are working in Europe to support Palestinian rights in relationship with Palestinian associations/movements and Israeli anticolonial-antioccupation movements, in the framework of international law.

–   To present the main initiatives and campaigns.

–   To exchange with the Arab solidarity movements and experiences, in particular after the recent uprisings, and discuss how to coordinate common struggles for Palestinian rights.

–  To decide proposals to be brought in the “convergence” assembly on Palestine and in the final assembly.

ACTORS: the seminar wants to be a chance for a broad discussion and a chance to learn from each other. Therefore the speeches will be short so that the largest participation in the debate is allowed.
